Lingfield Park Gains Bath Fixture

Lingfield Racecourse | Racing Post

Bath's June 11th fixture has been transferred to Lingfield Park, the British Horseracing Authority announced on Thursday. The move is due to the recent sustained dry weather and the fact that Bath cannot have an irrigation system. Originally an evening fixture, the eight-race card will remain in that time slot and be conducted over the all-weather track. The race programme will be equivalent to the original Bath card and full details are available at www.racingadmin.co.uk.

“Since the publication of the new fixture list, we simply haven't seen the rainfall at Bath that would be needed for the ground to move from anything other than firm, hard in places for next Thursday's meeting,” said Arena Racing Company Racing Director Jon Pullin. “Whilst this going description is acceptable for flat racing, it generally suits a relatively small pool of horses.  At a time when the focus is on maximising the opportunities for horsemen, and despite an unsettled forecast for this weekend, we have taken the decision to move the fixture to Lingfield Park's polytrack surface.”
